Buist, Byars & Taylor Named a Charleston Regional Small Business of the Year

CHARLESTON, S.C. -Local real estate law firm Buist, Byars & Taylor, LLC has been named a 2006 Regional Small Business of the Year for Charleston businesses headquartered east of the Cooper. The award, sponsored by the Joint Area Business Council and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, recognizes the firm’s contributions to Charleston’s civic and business communities as well as their innovation, distinctive business practices and leadership.

Three other Charleston businesses representing various regions of Charleston were honored. To be nominated, companies had to employ fewer than 75 people, be based in Charleston and have been in business before Jan. 1, 2004.

“We are honored to receive this award, which validates our firm’s business model and acknowledges the hard work of our staff.” said Chris Hughes, chief operating officer of Buist, Byars & Taylor. “We look forward to continuing to serve the Lowcountry from our many locations, and we extend a warm congratulations to the talented companies who share this honor with us.”

As a regional award recipient the firm is automatically entered into the statewide Small Business of the Year contest whereby winners will be announced on June 16.

Established in 1773, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization serving as a catalyst to maximize the power of business, improve quality of life and advance the region’s economy.
